Web2Gopher

Gopher is an internet protocol, like HTTP, that serves up information and files in simple, easy to navigate directories. It gopher has been a sister technology to the World Wide Web since the early 1990s. Unlike the web, gopher has avoided commercialization and stayed true to its origin as an information sharing system.

Unfortunately, not all web browsers support gopher. If you are using Lynx, OmniWeb 5.9.2 or later, Firefox prior to 4.0, SeaMonkey prior to 2.0, or Camino, then you should be able to browse gopher sites as you would any website. Your mileage will vary with other browsers. For a more thorough treatment of which browsers do and do not work with gopher, please read this article.

If you do not have a gopher-friendly browser, worry not. Web2Gopher should be able to detect your browser and automatically funnel you through an http:// proxy, so that you may transparently browse gopherspace on any web browser. You can also access gopher through any of the three proxy services listed below. If you'd prefer the old-fashioned static page, you can go here.

If you think your browser should work with gopher, but you're being redirected through a proxy, you can click here to use gopher natively.
